Chicken

Chicken

Chicken is the most popular among poultry products, because...

  • it is easy to prepare both in the factory and at home,
  • its meat is nutritious and easy to digest,
  • its fibres are soft and its connective tissues are low-fat,
  • it is high in protein and nutritious,
  • it has a favourable dispersion of fat (The fat of big beef-cattle weaves through the muscles, while in the case of poultry it can be found directly under the skin, thus can be easily removed.)
  • its energy-content is only 113 kcal/100 g (compared to the 306 kcal of the semi-fat pork, for instance),
  • it is rich in vitamin B and other mineral substances.

Owing to its favourable features, it can be part of all types of diets.

Turkey

Turkey

Turkey consumption has increased significantly in all European countries and its rate in Hungary has quadrupled in over 5 years.
Eating turkey is also part of the healthy and balanced diet, because:

  • similarly to the chicken it is also low in fat, rich in proteins and vitamins,
  • without the skin it can be the part of any low-calorie diet,
  • it is the most excellent meat of all against cardiovascular diseases, owing to its polyunsaturated fatty acid content.

Owing to its favourable features, it can be part of all types of diets.

Goose

Goose

Geese have rather tasty meat and their liver is an excellent delicacy and a precious export item. It has the highest calorie content among poultry products owing to its relatively high fat content.

Duck

Duck

The duck sector within the poultry industry has a substantially export orientation because duck is typically consumed only in a few countries. The highest demand is found in the Asian countries, especially in China, where 60-65% of the duck stock can be found. Ducks are bred in China not only for their meat but also for their eggs. This is not typical in Europe, where breeding is mostly for meat production. Beside the considerable demand for its meat, goose-liver consumption is frequent in France. It is also worth mentioning that the Scandinavian countries, as well as Germany, England and Italy are among the countries with high duck meat consumption.

Guinea fowl

Guinea fowl

The meat of the dressed guinea-fowl has dark colour. It is rich in protein, low in fat and has unique taste.
